The invention relates to a parting machine comprising a rotating parting wheel for carrying out parting cuts in a workpiece and to a workpiece positioning device for a parting machine of this type. The parting machine comprises a parting wheel and a drive motor for driving said parting wheel, a clamping device for clamping the workpiece, means for mechanically positioning the workpiece along one or two linear directions and additionally about one or two axes of rotation, and a travel mechanism for setting the parting wheel on the workpiece in order to carry out parting cuts in the positioned workpiece, using the parting wheel.
